Dr. Maya Angelou once noted that “the more you know your history, the more liberated you are.” This is the power of Special Collections and Archives, and one of the driving forces behind my desire to establish the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, & Ally (GLBTQ2A) Resource Center Archive collection at Morgan Library. Our office had collected numerous papers and posters, documenting not only our office’s history on campus but also the diverse past of GLBTQ people as represented in northern Colorado, including the death of Matthew Shepard and the aftermath of his murder. These events have defined our history, and our path to further progress in the future.

Here in the Resource Center, Lory Student Center 232, we have a subset of the library chronicles, as well!  Please visit either space.

Emily Ambrose is thrilled to be joining the GLBTQQA Staff as its first Assistant Director.  Although not new to CSU or to the office, Emily is excited for the new directions and challenges to come. She graduated from CSU in 2010 with a Master's in Student Affairs in Higher Education, after traveling as a Leadership Consultant for her international sorority.  Emily graduated with her Bachelor's in Communication and a certificate in LGBT Studies from CU-Boulder. Most recently, she worked in the office of Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement with leadership initiatives and still teaches in the President's Leadership Program.

And yet, these experiences only partially represent her.  Emily enjoys dancing, traveling, guiding in the Grand Canyon, binge watching Netflix with her roommate, and visiting family with her partner.  She loves all the students and staff she has come to know and will meet in her new position!
